Being referred to Rikiki by satisfied corporate clients, this little family had set out to completely renovate a three story mansion, built in the signature style of 1950s Germany: Clean, functional but also a bit bland. They sought of something more modern and lively, asking for consultancy services by Rikiki to supplement their remodelings.
As the renovation phase was going on, Rikiki was hired to come up with overall concept alternatives and provide a pool of matching design elements and furniture pieces.
The couple wanted to bring together their desires for their surroundings, so Rikiki first set out to thoroughly assess both of their essential design likes and dislikes. Using a custom-made questionnaire with color swatches and magazine-like picture options, “style clouds” were built and distilled into an welcome balance of matrimonial harmony.
The mansion's floor plans were divided into functional areas and themed with exemplary design elements plus furniture pieces. The options were combined into three different atmospheres, labeled for each overarching theme: Winter Sun, Summer Wind and Autumn Fire.
Predictably, their little daughter was overjoyed when Summer Wind included some exquisite and brightly colored balloon lamps. Meanwhile their cat was having none of it, indignantly sulking in her chair while everyone else at the table was delighted with the choices presented.
